Q12 feierte den Geburtstag von King Charles
Happy Birthday, King Charles III !
This wish was not, as you might expect, made by an expert on the royals or a member of the royal family, but instead by the 12th grade English classes at a party in honour of the 75th birthday of His Majesty King Charles III. The idea to celebrate the birthday was pitched by Mr. Stuffer, and then, within a week, the birthday party was organised by his class of English students. The class invited all the other English classes to join them in the celebration on Friday 1st December 2023.
When the invitation was delivered into the classes, the students responsible made quite the entrance – with the British national anthem “God Save the King” for a more spectacular effect on the recipients of the invitation.
The “celebratory banquet”, as it was called by one of the speakers, one week later was started by self-written speeches suitable for the occasion. After the speeches, the cultural program continued with lyrical masterpieces. The poems in this part of the party included “The great feast”, presented by Lena Wieser. Nearly all poems had a humorous touch about either the age of the king or the hosts of the party and the minor mistakes in their written invitation.
As the party was for the King of Great Britain, one drink could not be missing from the celebration: Earl Grey tea. To that tea, the different Royal Bakeries were tasked to spoil the party guests - and they definitely delivered: The buffet was filled with delicious pastries including, but not limited to, three different kinds of muffins and brownies. The Royal Bakers explained the reasons they baked their treats. During these presentations there was also the anecdote of King Charles` favourite cake - traditional English fruit cake - which the Royal Bakery did not find pleasing at all, then deciding to make brownies instead.
After the crowd had devoured the cakes and had drunk the tea, the party sadly came to an end already, but as a worthy ending the classes sang the national anthem of Great Britain and with “God save the King” the guests were dismissed.
